®NEWS UPDATE:(A bit greedy”): Former United Old Trafford hero reveals……..
Former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has lavished praise on Alejandro Garnacho, describing the young forward as an “exceptional talent.” However, Fletcher has also urged the 19-year-old to channel his natural ability and occasional “greediness” into becoming a consistent and decisive player for the club.
Garnacho, who broke into the first team last season under Erik ten Hag, has quickly become a fan favorite at Old Trafford due to his fearless dribbling, creativity, and flair. Despite his talent, Fletcher believes there is room for growth in his decision-making and overall contribution to the team.
In an interview, Fletcher acknowledged Garnacho’s youthful exuberance, saying, “He’s got that bit of arrogance, a bit of greediness you often see in top attackers, but he has to balance it. It’s about making the right choices at the right time and ensuring his moments of magic help the team.”
The former United midfielder, who played a key role in Sir Alex Ferguson’s all-conquering sides, highlighted Garnacho’s potential to thrive at a club that values exciting wingers. “He reminds me of the players United fans have always loved—someone who gets fans off their seats. But he’s still young, and his learning curve will involve understanding when to take risks and when to play more for the team.”
Garnacho has already shown his ability to make an impact in big games, including his recent injury-time winner against Fulham. Fletche believes these moments can be transformative for a young player’s confidence, but he warned against complacency. “It’s easy to get carried away after a great performance or a key goal, but consistency is what defines legends at this club.”
The Argentine starlet has benefited from the mentorship of senior players like Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, as well as Ten Hag’s structured coaching approach. Fletcher emphasized the importance of Garnacho learning from experienced teammates while retaining his unique style.
“If he stays humble and keeps working hard, there’s no limit to how good he can be. But it’s a journey, and it’s about turning potential into results week after week.”
