As of January 18, 2025, there have been no official reports or announcements regarding Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer’s retirement. DeBoer, who took over the Crimson Tide program in January 2024 following Nick Saban’s retirement, led Alabama to a 9–4 record in his inaugural season.
Under DeBoer’s leadership, Alabama began the 2024 season with a commanding 63–0 victory over Western Kentucky, showcasing the new coaching staff’s effective strategies and positive influence on team dynamics. The team faced challenges throughout the season, including a notable loss to Vanderbilt—the first since 1984—but also secured significant wins, such as ending Georgia’s 42-game regular-season winning streak with a 41–34 victory.
Prior to joining Alabama, DeBoer served as the head coach at the University of Washington, where he led the Huskies to a 14–1 record and an appearance in the national championship game in the 2023 season. His impressive tenure at Washington included back-to-back 11-win seasons and multiple Coach of the Year honors.
