The University of Texas Longhorns are set to hire Chad Scott, formerly of West Virginia University (WVU), as their new running backs coach.

Chad Scott’s coaching career spans nearly two decades, during which he has developed a reputation for enhancing offensive performance and mentoring running backs.

  • Early Coaching Roles: Scott began his coaching career at Troy University (2007–2009) as a running backs coach.   • Stints at Kentucky and North Carolina: Scott served as the running backs coach at the University of Kentucky (2013–2014) and later joined the University of North Carolina (2016–2018) as the tight ends and hybrids coach. During his tenure at North Carolina, the offense ranked 31st nationally in total offense in 2018, averaging 442.1 yards per game.

  • Tenure at West Virginia University: Scott joined WVU in 2019 as the co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2023, a role he held until his recent move to Texas. Under his guidance, WVU’s rushing attack consistently ranked in the top 10 nationally over the past two seasons.
