from the free encyclopedia Wikipedia

The program’s head coach from 1992 to 2008 was Phillip Fulmer.
The University of Tennessee is represented in the East Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) by the Tennessee Volunteers collegiate football team. The Wows participate in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Since the program’s founding in the 1891 season, there have been 27 head coaches. [1] In 2021, Josh Heupel took over as head coach. [2]

Over the course of 118 Tennessee football seasons, the team has participated in 1,215 games. [1] The Volunteers had a record of twelve wins and eleven loses (.522) from 1891 to 1898, but they had no formal head coach until the 1899 season. [1] Eleven coaches have led since 1899.

With 173 wins in his 21 years with the program, Neyland leads the team in both seasons coached and games won. [1] With a winning percentage of.846, Barnhill leads the field. [1] With a winning percentage of.306, James DePree has the lowest. [1] Neyland, Wyatt, Dickey, Majors, and Fulmer are among the 23 head coaches who have guided the Volunteers to be elected into the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia. [6] [7] [8] [9]
