Eagles reunite with veteran OL on a one-year deal

Eagles reunite withVerteran OL on a one-year deal.  The Philadelphia Eagles have bolstered their offensive line by signing veteran tackle Kendall Lamm to a one-year contract. Lamm, who has accumulated extensive NFL experience across multiple teams, joins the Eagles following a stint with the Miami Dolphins.

A Seasoned Career Across the NFL

Kendall Lamm’s professional journey began in 2015 when he signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent. During his tenure with the Texans, Lamm showcased his versatility by appearing in 55 games and starting 24 of them over four seasons. His performance at right tackle was particularly notable in 2018, when he started 13 games, demonstrating reliability and skill on the offensive line.

In 2019, Lamm joined the Cleveland Browns on a two-year contract. While with the Browns, he played in 19 games and made four starts. A highlight of his time in Cleveland was scoring his first career touchdown on a one-yard pass from quarterback Baker Mayfield during a game against the Tennessee Titans in December 2020.

Lamm’s next move was to the Tennessee Titans in 2021, where he signed another two-year deal. Although his role was primarily as a backup, he managed to start one game at left tackle, providing depth and experience to the Titans’ offensive line. His tenure with the Titans concluded with his release in March 2022.

Recent Challenges and Recovery

In August 2022, Lamm had a brief stint with the Detroit Lions during their training camp but was released before the start of the regular season. He then signed with the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad in November 2022 and was promoted to the active roster by the end of that year. Lamm re-signed with the Dolphins in March 2023 and began the season as the starting left tackle, filling in for the injured Terron Armstead. Throughout the 2023 season, he appeared in 15 games, starting seven.

However, Lamm’s momentum was halted in January 2025 when he was placed on injured reserve due to a back injury that required surgery. This development raised concerns about his future in the league and his ability to return to peak performance.

A New Chapter with the Eagles

On March 25, 2025, the Philadelphia Eagles announced the signing of Kendall Lamm to a one-year contract. This move aligns with the Eagles’ strategy of adding experienced depth to their offensive line, especially following their recent success, including a Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Lamm’s versatility and experience are expected to provide valuable support to the Eagles’ offensive front.

Eagles’ Ongoing Efforts to Strengthen the Offensive Line

The acquisition of Lamm is part of a broader effort by the Eagles to reinforce their offensive line. In recent years, the team has made several strategic moves to ensure depth and resilience in this critical area.

For instance, in July 2023, the Eagles signed veteran offensive lineman Dennis Kelly, who began his NFL career with Philadelphia in 2012. Kelly’s return brought a wealth of experience, having played 130 games with 54 starts across multiple teams.

Additionally, in August 2023, the Eagles re-signed offensive lineman Fred Johnson less than 24 hours after releasing him, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining a robust offensive line roster.

In June 2024, the team added Max Scharping, a 27-year-old lineman with over 79 games of experience and 33 starts, further bolstering their depth.

These moves underscore the Eagles’ proactive approach to building a resilient and experienced offensive line capable of protecting their quarterback and enhancing their offensive capabilities.

Looking Ahead

As Kendall Lamm integrates into the Eagles’ roster, his performance during training camp and the preseason will be closely monitored. The team’s coaching staff will assess his recovery from back surgery and his ability to contribute effectively on the field. If Lamm can return to his pre-injury form, he has the potential to be a valuable asset, providing both depth and leadership to the Eagles’ offensive line.

The Eagles’ commitment to strengthening their offensive line reflects their broader strategy to remain competitive in the NFL and build upon their recent successes. Fans and analysts alike will be keen to see how Lamm’s addition influences the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
