Acaden Lewis, a highly regarded 6-foot-2 point guard from Washington, D.C., committed to the Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team in November 2024, choosing Kentucky over finalists Duke and UConn.
His decision was influenced by the opportunity for significant playing time and his strong rapport with head coach Mark Pope, who personally engaged with Lewis’s community during the recruitment process.
During his high school tenure at Sidwell Friends School, Lewis earned the Gatorade District of Columbia Boys Basketball Player of the Year award in the 2023-24 season, averaging 14.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. On the Nike EYBL circuit with Team Durant, he elevated his performance, posting averages of 16.7 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game, ranking third in assists.
Lewis’s skill set is characterized by exceptional court vision, scoring versatility, and leadership qualities, drawing comparisons to former Kentucky point guard Anthony Epps. His commitment, along with those of five-star guard Jasper Johnson and in-state center Malachi Moreno, signifies a strong recruiting class for Coach Pope, aiming to elevate Kentucky’s basketball program in the coming seasons.
