BREAKING NEWS:Full schedule announced for 2025 Major ………
Major League Rugby (MLR) has officially released its full schedule for the 2025 season, set to kick off on February 15. The league’s eighth season will feature 11 teams playing a compressed 17-week schedule, which has been adjusted to accommodate 16 regular-season games per team. Each team will host eight home games and play an equal number on the road. The competition concludes with the playoffs and the MLR Shield final scheduled for the last weekend in June.
Key changes include midweek matches, with seven games scheduled during weekdays, marking a departure from the league’s traditional weekend-only schedule. This adjustment, driven by the condensed timeline, has sparked debate regarding player welfare, as some teams will face short turnarounds and extensive travel between games. Concerns have been raised by the players’ association about the increased risk of injuries due to these conditions.
Venue updates are also noteworthy. Rugby FC LA will relocate to
’s Wallis Annenberg Stadium for most of its home games but plans to host two marquee matches at larger venues yet to be disclosed. Similarly, San Diego Legion will return to Torero Stadium, enhancing the league’s regional presence.
The Western and Eastern conferences will maintain their competitive formats, with teams playing a mix of intra- and inter-conference games. Despite the absence of a test window break this year, the playoff structure remains unchanged, featuring the top four teams from each conference advancing.
MLR’s 2025 season promises intense competition, strategic innovations, and logistical challenges, all reflecting the league’s continued evolution in North American professional rugby. For detailed match schedules, check the league’s official website or team announcements.
