The announcement, made Thursday, brings together two coaching titans who have left indelible marks on the game. Saban, the architect of a dynasty at Alabama, and Meyer, who captured national championships with both Florida and Ohio State, combined to redefine what it means to lead a program to sustained excellence.

Meyer’s career spanned stops at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State. His innovative offensive schemes and unparalleled ability to develop talent earned him three national championships, including two with Florida (2006, 2008) and one with Ohio State (2014). Known for his meticulous preparation and intensity, Meyer’s 187-32 career record ranks among the best in college football history. “It’s an incredible honor,” Meyer said in a statement. “To be recognized alongside legends like Coach Saban and others is truly humbling.”

Saban, meanwhile, is synonymous with dominance. His run at Alabama has yielded seven national titles, six of which came with the Crimson Tide. Under his guidance, Alabama became the standard-bearer for college football excellence, with a relentless focus on discipline, recruiting, and player development. With a 285-69-1 career record and still coaching, Saban’s impact on the sport remains unparalleled. “This honor is about the countless players and coaches who have been part of this journey,” Saban said. “I’m grateful to them and to the game of football for everything it’s given me.”

The 2025 class also includes several notable players and contributors to the game, but the spotlight will undoubtedly shine brightest on Meyer and Saban. Their fierce rivalry—highlighted by memorable clashes in the SEC and College Football Playoff—defined an era of college football that captivated fans and set new standards for greatness.

The induction ceremony, set for December in Atlanta, promises to be a celebration of the game’s rich history and the enduring legacies of its newest Hall of Fame members. For Meyer and Saban, it will be yet another chapter in careers defined by unparalleled success.
