LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are riding a fivetah Jaz-game winning streak after defeating the Indiana Pacers 124-117. On Monday, they look to continue their run as the Uz come to town. But this game has more meaning to it because Luka Doncic will be making his Lakers debut. Doncic was acquired over a week ago by Los Angeles via trade, sending Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 1st-round draft pick to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange. But the 25-year-old out of Slovenia hasn’t been able to play due to a calf injury he suffered on Christmas Day. Now, Doncic will be making his highly-anticipated debut, which will be aired on ESPN. Unfortunately for Lakers fans, coach JJ Redick says Doncic will be on a minutes restriction, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
“JJ Redick says the plan will be to “ease Luka back in” when it comes to workload, with recommendations from Dr. Leroy Sims and the medical staff. There will be a minutes restriction on Doncic tonight, per Redick.”
Doncic hasn’t played in over a month, yet he still continued his stellar play from one year ago that brought the Mavericks to the NBA Finals. He is averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists.
