Addressing Student Hunger Through School Nutrition Grants
A central component of the “Taste of the Draft” initiative is the provision of School Nutrition Grants to Wisconsin schools. These grants are designed to enhance students’ access to nutritious meals, including milk, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. In recognition of the 90th NFL Draft, up to 90 schools across Wisconsin will receive meal distribution equipment tailored to their specific needs, ensuring that healthy meals are readily available throughout the school day.
Schools interested in applying for these grants can do so through March 4, 2025, by visiting the official application portal at tasteofdraft.genyouthnow.org. This initiative underscores the commitment to combating food insecurity, as nearly half of Wisconsin students qualify for free or reduced-price school meals, and one in six children in the state faces food insecurity.
