South Yorkshire Police are investigating allegations of racist comments made against Luton players during their 3-2 win over Sheffield United on Boxing Day.
Carlton Morris complained that something was said to him in the home crowd towards the end of the second half.
The striker came off the bench to score two own goals in four minutes as Luton defeated the Blades in a crucial Premier League clash.
United were on their way to an important victory with goals from Oli McBurnie and Anel Ahmedžić.
Morris reported the matter to referee Sam Allison, who became the first black referee to officiate a Premier League match in 15 years.
The match was paused while Alisson spoke with both managers about the incident.
The Blades have issued a statement saying they have a ‘zero tolerance approach’ to racism: ‘Sheffield United FC will be taking part in the Premier League Boxing Day match against Sheffield United We are disappointed to learn that there was an incident of alleged racism towards the end of the match.

“An investigation has been launched after the club became aware of the alleged incident.
We are currently in dialogue with South Yorkshire Police and Luton Town FC and would like to thank them for their support.

There is no place for such behavior to be tolerated.
” Luton Town also issued a statement saying they “offer our full support to Carlton and to the other players who have suffered abuse.
