Some fans in the Cleveland market may find it even harder to watch Saturday’s Browns playoff game against the Houston Texans.
Browns vs.
Texans game, 4:44:04:30 PM ET on Saturday, January 13th, will be blacked out to his DirecTV subscribers in Cleveland.
This is due to a shipping dispute between DirecTV and Tegna, which owns Cleveland’s NBC affiliate WKYC.
Tegna’s subsidiary withdrew him from DirecTV in late November, and the shipping dispute has been going on for over a month now.
Subscribers in Cleveland and other markets around the country were unable to watch Tegna-owned channels on DirecTV from December to January.
Tegna-owned stations include the NBC affiliate in Cleveland, the ABC affiliate in Dallas, and the CBS affiliates in San Diego and Washington, D.C.
and his NBC affiliates in Tampa, as well as Denver and Seattle.
freestar Affected subscribers in Cleveland have several options, including switching to another cable, satellite, or streaming provider.
Saturday’s Browns vs.
Texans game will also be available to stream on Peacock or his NFL+ subscription.
During NFL Wild Card Weekend, home markets other than Cleveland will be excluded from the team’s playoff games.
But some fan bases could find themselves in a similar position as Browns fans this weekend in the divisional round.
Tegna owns NBC affiliate Buffalo, CBS affiliate Houston and ABC affiliate Dallas, all of which could potentially broadcast games involving their respective local teams.
Tegna also owns seven Fox affiliates that broadcast the NFC Championship and his 15 CBS affiliates that broadcast both the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl.
