Celtic began talks with Danish club Brondby this month to sign striker Matthias Qvistgaden, sources told Football Insider.
The Hoops are understood to still be working on a deal for the 21-year-old, who has been a standout in the Danish top flight this season.
Brendan Rodgers’ team continues to be active in the market this month, with a number of absentees ahead of the Asian Cup, including Oh Hyun-yoo, Maeda Dae-ran and Yang Hyun-joong.

Celtic As Football Insider revealed last month (28 December), the Hoops are prioritizing a striker, central midfielder and left winger in the January transfer window.
Celtic are putting the finishing touches on their move to sign Nicolas Kuhn.
Sources say this is almost complete.
Meanwhile, Kvistgarden has played as both a striker and a winger during his career, and this season he has scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 21 appearances in all competitions.
Since the academy product’s debut in November 2020, he has proven to be an integral part of Brøndby.
Kvistgaarden signed a new contract with the club in May and is contracted until the summer of 2027.
The 2002-born star made 81 appearances for Brøndby, scoring 21 goals and providing 12 assists, helping them win the league title in 2021-22.
Celtic Since making his debut with the U18 national team in September 2019, he has been a regular player in Denmark’s youth team, and recently played for the U21 national team in the European Championship qualifier against Wales.
Celtic remain top of the league heading into the winter break, eight points behind second-placed Rangers, and will face Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup on January 21st.
