The Bhoys have had a mixed season so far and Brendan Rodgers will be looking to piece the team together to his liking.
The Hoops lead the Scottish Premiership table by eight points, but if Rangers win the game, the gap will only close to two points.
Matt O’Reilly and Kyōgo Furuhashi have performed well this season, but Rodgers will be concerned about the inconsistent form of his other strikers.
He is considering adding another attacker to his ranks and is eyeing Gerhardt as a possible option.
West Bromwich Albion and Scottish rivals Rangers are also interested in signing the “quality” attacker, who is on a £15,000-a-week deal at Elland Road.
Jones suspects Celtic are looking to take him on loan.
“I think it will be a loan move.
Gerhard looks ready to play on the right platform so he will be a good profile player,” Jones told GiveMeSport.

No wonder there are inquiries from both teams at the moment, from Rangers and Celtic.
For a player like Gerhardt, it’s probably a confidence booster to have conversations like this happening around him right now.
Whether they perform well enough to get a move is another question, but I don’t think anyone will lose out on this situation.
”Coune will join Parkhead for £3m.
However, Gerhard would be a great addition.

When Gerhard first appeared under manager Marcelo Bielsa, the club were reluctant to sign a new striker, mainly for fear of hindering Gerhard’s development.
He’s still a guy with a lot of potential, but he underperformed under Falke.
A move to Celtic Park could be ideal for his development.
