If Malcolm Brogdon plays as consistently as he did in the playoffs last season against the Sixers, he will be one of the best offensive players in the NBA.
As a member of the Celtics, he scored 16.
0 points in 29.
2 minutes per game for the Sixers, and 6.
3 points per game.He shot an impressive 52.
3% from 3-point range.
was recorded.
Brogdon won the Sixth Man of the Year award last season with Boston, but was traded this offseason as part of the deal that sent Jrue Holiday to the Celtics.
Currently a member of the Portland Trail Blazers, Brogdon appears to be an ideal trade candidate for the rebuilding team.
If Portland wants to sign the 31-year-old, should the Sixers be interested?
A popular ball handler behind Tyrese Maxey was a popular choice for the Sixers.
Shooting has always been important in the league, but it’s especially important on a team with Joel Embiid.
These are his two criteria that Brogdon clearly meets.
Brogdon has extensive experience leading NBA offenses during his time with the Pacers.
He spent three years in Milwaukee and then came to Indiana with a decent salary.
Before joining the Celtics, he was a mainstay for the Pacers.
Throughout his career, he was a good playmaker (24% assist rate) but not prone to turnovers (11.
3% turnover rate).
His reputation with the Pacers has fluctuated somewhat, but he has established himself as an elite shooter over his past two seasons.
He shot 43.
2% from deep on 4.
7 attempts per game.
Those looks were much easier to pull off with the Celtics.
With the Blazers, he had to work hard to find it, and it’s still paying off.
There are concerns about Brogdon’s injury history and defense.
There have reportedly been concerns about Brogdon’s knee since his time at Virginia.
That may have been one of the reasons he went to the Bucks in the second round in 2016.
Brogdon, who played in 75 games during his Rookie of the Year season, suffered a partial tear in his left quadriceps muscle, limiting him to just 48 games in his second year.
He missed part of the 2018-19 season due to plantar fasciitis.
After signing with the Pacers, Brogdon played in just 54 games his first season and 56 games his second year.
In the 2021/22 season, he only appeared in 36 games due to an Achilles tendon issue.
He suffered a partial tear of the tendon in his right elbow while with the Celtics, which kept him out of the playoffs.
This injury forced the Clippers to abandon a trade for Brogdon.
James Harden’s move to Los Angeles ultimately turned out to be a blessing for the Sixers.
Brogdon was never an explosive player, and his long injury list didn’t help either.
Brogdon was a player Harden frequently targeted in this series.
His defense will be a big question mark heading into the postseason.
The Sixers did a good job of not asking Brogdon to play a key role, but it’s fair to question whether Maxey Brogdon’s backcourt is fit for the playoffs.
Brogdon will support Maxey, but the two will need to overlap.
We all know how Nick Nurse uses his starters in the postseason.
Maxey won’t see much of the bench.
Patrick Beverley has also really stabilized the team lately as their backup point guard.
After a rocky start to the season offensively, Pat Bev is settling in well.
He is shooting 37.
5% from three games over the last 23 games.
With Beverley running the offense, you can also see how organized the Sixers are.
