A talented footballer, who used to play at Bristol Rovers’ academy, is now out of a coma and starting to make a recovery at home after being in a crash that killed three teenagers. Lucas Vaughan, 19, was a passenger at the time of the incident, on December 11, in Coedely, Tonyrefail, in a fatal collision in which three of his friends lost their lives.
Jesse Owen, 18, from Tonypandy; Morgan Smith, also 18 and from Tonypandy, and Callum Griffiths, 19, from Porth, lost their lives in the collision between a bus and a car on Elwyn Street. Lucas was left in intensive care after the crash.
But now, the 19-year-old is starting to make a ‘miraculous recovery at home’. He is now out of the coma he was in, and is now receiving more treatment at home.

In a statement on their website, Lydney FC said: “Following the awful news about the horrific car accident on December 11 that saw three young lads lose their lives, we can now announce that our exciting welsh winger Lucas Vaughan is making a miraculous recovery at home. He fought his way out of a coma and is now progressing day by day, with a very long road ahead of him.
“His family, and the whole football community continue to pray that Lucas makes a complete recovery and maybe one day gets to put on the black and white shirt of Lydney Town once again. Keep up the good work young man, love
