Rangers left-back Borna Barisic is ready to quit the club this summer when his contract comes to an end, sources have told Football Insider.

The 31-year-old’s deal is up in May and he is now looking to take advantage of his free agent status in the

Barisic is aware he can get a bigger deal elsewhere if he leaves Ibrox for free.

Rangers are also keen to trim the wage bill and free up space in Philippe Clement’s squad during the summer.

The Croatia international has featured in just three of the last 10 Scottish Premiership games.

Barisic has played 27 games across all competitions, notching one goal and six assists – with 22 of those appearances coming as part of the standing lineup.

22-year-old Ridvan Yilmaz has often taken the defender’s place in the side since the arrival of Clement in October.

Barisic has been linked with the likes of Dinamo Zagreb and Udinese in recent months as his contract winds down.

The left-back signed his last extension in January 2020 – 18 months before he helped Steven Gerrard’s side lift the Scottish Premiership title.

He joined from NK Osijek in August 2018 and has gone on to make 228 appearances for Rangers, notching 10 goals and 54 assists.

Clement’s are firmly in the race for the Scottish Premiership title as the run-in approaches.

Rangers will also play Europa League knockout stage football from March.
