Now, he finds himself trying to make sense of what has transpired over the past two weeks.After 33 games, Rangers are three points behind Celtic having played the same amount of games. Their goal difference is also inferior, effectively making it a four-point gap. But after a 3-3 draw with the Hoops at Ibrox earlier this month, the Gers had been one point behind with a game in hand.

Ferguson admits it’s becoming increasingly difficult to defend the recent results and performances of his old club. He wrote in his Daily Record column: “A couple of weeks ago I didn’t just make a mistake in this column – I ignored all my instincts and threw caution to the wind when I predicted Rangers would go into the post split fixtures five points clear at the top of the table and on their way to the title.
