prospect more than made good on his chance at Portman Road. His return of 11 goals and six assists in 50 appearances saw him play an increasingly important role in Kieran McKenna’s promotion-winning side as the season progressed. As such, plenty of speculation has already circulated over a possible return to the Tractor Boys for the new campaign.

Now, fresh claims have emerged on the matter from TEAMtalk.

They report that while a loan move is most likely for Hutchinson this summer, Ipswich Town will make an attempt to sign the Jamaican permanently. It has been said that Chelsea will look to tie Hutchinson down to a new deal but ‘it is not unlikely’ that the Stamford Bridge side would accept the right offer.Having found such success in the Championship with Ipswich Town, it seems highly likely that Hutchinson is playing top-flight football when the new season comes around.

Just where he’ll be playing remains to be decided though, with questions to be answered over his immediate and long-term future before plans for next season can be put into action.

If Chelsea want to keep Hutchinson, it’s of the utmost importance that they tie him down to a new deal this summer. If not, they’ll be at risk of losing him for nothing next summer.

In the event the winger opts against a new deal, a sale before next season will be ideal as it ensures they still get a fee for his services. It seems there is interest in a permanent swoop too, likely from other clubs alongside Ipswich Town.

Town’s reunion chances

After his loan at Portman Road, you have to think Ipswich Town have a good chance of getting Hutchinson back for a second spell.
