In a recent post on X [31 May], Ferreira, a journalist from Radio Punto, disclosed that Rangers are currently engaged in negotiations with Godoy Cruz, alongside another club from outside Argentina, for the transfer of Thomas Galdames. This transfer window represents Godoy Cruz’s final opportunity to secure a fee for the 25-year-old left-back.

Galdames caught the attention of Rangers during an impressive performance, possibly his last for the club in a 4-0 victory over El Porvenir. With his contract expiring on December 31st and all parties eager to finalize a deal promptly, talks are underway.

Ferreira conveyed, “Thomas Galdames is contracted with Godoy Cruz until December 31st, and as of now, there has been no agreement to extend it. Therefore, the club aims to transfer him in this market to gain a financial return; negotiations are underway with Rangers and another overseas club. Should they formalize their offers, he will depart.”

Rangers are actively involved in the summer transfer market, recognizing the significant task ahead for Philippe Clement and the team. While Galdames shares a positional profile with the club’s first summer signing, Jefte, Rangers anticipate player departures from Ibrox and are seeking cover across all positions.

Although they had hoped to secure the signing of Panama international Jose Cordoba, who reportedly favors a move to England with Norwich City, Rangers are swiftly redirecting their attention to alternative targets.

A representative from Rangers is slated to attend the TransferRoom recruitment event in Mexico next week, described as a transfer ‘speed-date’ initiative as the club expands its market reach beyond Europe.
